Living each day much muchier

Strangers in the world

You didn’t come into this world. You came out of it, like a wave from the ocean.
You are not a stranger here.

Alan Watts

Anyone who has ever felt lonely or had trouble fitting in understands how it feels to be a stranger, even around familiar people and places.

Sometimes we feel we are something apart, something different or not meant to be.

At times like this, I remember Alan Watts.

Everything we are grew out of this world. As a tree produces fruit, so the earth produces people because that is the very nature of what it does.

Just like the grass, the mountain and the movement of the air, we are the sum of all that came before us and the herald of what will come next.

We are made of the stuff of the world. Our minds and the experience of having a soul are as natural as the sun.

Everything about you belongs to this world just as the trees do. Everything about you is connected, just as water binds together but moves in waves and spray.

If you feel like an outsider, plant your feet on the ground, look at the sky and take in a deep breath. You are no stranger here at all.

You belong.
