Familiar faces

Life is partly what we make it, and partly what it is made by the friends we choose.

Familiarity breeds contempt, they say. Familiarity gets a bad rap.

When you’re running on empty, familiarity is an excellent cure.

A familiar soul sees that you’re not yourself and offers a hug. Familiar company accepts your quiet presence and lets you be as you are. Familiar settings feel like home.

Familiar activities and laughter remind you that you’re not alone. You have a place. You occupy a space in people’s lives and hearts.

When you’re running on empty, familiarity can top you back up. It’s no burden on anyone. Just let your affection for their everyday awesomeness wash over you.

Then after a while, your heart grows full again and nobody need be any the wiser.
