Beauty – gratutitude challenge #25

“Why do you put that black stuff on your eyes?  I don’t understand.  Natural is beautiful.”

It’s hard to explain.

Why do women dye their hair? Why do we paint our nails and show off a new pair of shoes?

To dismiss it as vain or insecure undermines a fundamental feminine pleasure.  There is nothing wrong with taking pleasure in beauty. Even when it’s your own.

Beauty is fun.  It’s worth admiring and playing with.  It’s like holding up a diamond to the light and seeing how differently it sparkles with each facet.

Real beauty isn’t insecure or vain. It celebrates.
